== About the initiative ==
Please provide a clear and concrete summary of the initiative.

=== What will be done ===
(250 words)

This grant proposal is intended to support Diyode's efforts in community support for prototyping. For 3 years now, we've been acquiring tools intended to help community members build the things they need to improve their lives.
We have made great progress with wood working capabilities, with electronics tools and artisinal tools for textiles and glass work, but our metal working capabilities have been slow to improve. This is due largely to the cost and specialization of equipment. We have a section of our shop set up for metal working, but it is woefully under-equipped. This means that members coming to us looking to build anything in metal are invariably disappointed. There are no other options in the city where people can work on metal projects themselves without purchasing a lot of expensive equipment.
We will use the grant money to purchase a number of key pieces of equipment. These will include a full size milling machine, a metal cutting bandsaw, of plasma welder and ...

=== Who will do the work ===
(250 words)

Diyode currently has 75 members, all motivated, talented and community minded people. We have a lot of people ready, willing and able to put in the work to make the most of this opportunity.

=== How will it be done ===
(250 words)

We already have the space for the equipment put aside. We have several members with experience in metal working who have a plan to fully equip the shop with everything we need. We will focus largely on used equipment, where we can get much more value for money

(250 words)

All work will take place at the Diyode Community Workshop at 71 Wyndham St South, Unit B in Guelph.

=== If applicable, tell us which organizations or groups will contribute to the work and what role they will play? ===

=== How will you measure or evaluate the impact of your initiative? ===
What are the indicators of success? What measurements will you use to help you determine the level of success?

We will be able to measure the success of the project by seeing what projects members make with the new tools, and by tracking what new members join based on the availability of the new equipment.
