About the initiative

What will be done

We have made great progress with wood working capabilities, with electronics tools and artisinal tools for textiles and glass work, but our metal working capabilities have been slow to improve. This is due largely to the cost and specialization of equipment. We have a section of our shop set up for metal working, but it is woefully under-equipped. This means that members coming to us looking to build anything in metal are invariably disappointed. There are no other options in the city where people can work on metal projects themselves without purchasing a lot of expensive equipment.
We will use the grant money to purchase a number of key pieces of equipment. These will include a full size milling machine, a metal cutting bandsaw, of plasma welder and ...Who will do the work
